Mailcodes and Mailstops
UC Santa Cruz uses Mailcodes and Mailstops to send and receive mail. When you place your department mailcode at the top of your return address for outgoing mail, we put postage on your mail for you, and charge it to your department's FOAPAL at the end of each month.
You can also use your mailcode to send FedEx, UPS and US Postal express mail, for targeted campus distributions and for LiveScan (fingerprinting) services for new employees.
Including your mailstop in your addressing information will help our mail staff know where to deliver your mail, ensuring that you will receive your mail in a timely manner.
If you have any questions or need help with your mailcodes or mailstops, please call us at (831) 459-3169 or email us at mailbilling@ucsc.edu.
What can you do to reduce your Mail volumes and thereby reduce your costs?
Visit https://www.dmachoice.org and take advantage of their services.
You can also go to https://www.privacyrights.org and ask to be removed from mailers who belong to the “Direct Marketing Association” which represents about 75% of all mailers.
- If a Faculty or Staff member is no longer with UCSC, please contact the mailer and ask for them to be removed from their list.
- Don’t freely give your address or e-mail to vendors who may add you to a mailing list.
- Finally, Mail Services welcomes your suggestions for further solutions - all ideas and efforts to reduce unwanted volumes are gladly accepted, and please remember to help our campus' Sustainability efforts by recycling unwanted mail.
