How to Request a New Mailcode

UC Santa Cruz uses Mailcodes to send outbound mail. When you place your department mailcode at the top of your return address for outgoing mail, we put postage on your mail for you, and charge it to your department's FOAPAL at the end of each month.

You can also use your mailcode to send FedEx, UPS and US Postal express mail, for targeted campus distributions and for live-scan (fingerprinting) services for new employees.

To set up a new mailcode

Please send an email to mailbilling@ucsc.edu, with the following information:

  1. The proposed name for the mailcode, including any abbreviations
  2. The FOAPAL (Fund, Organization, and optional Activity Code) to be associated with the mailcode
  3. The name and email of the contact for this mailcode. They will be the recipient of the mailcode's monthly statement.

With this information, you will be given a mailcode, generally three digits long. Please write this mailcode on all outgoing mail, above your return address
